There are several I would have liked to have tried like Raid on Iran, Kung Fu 2000, and others. It was like a miniature SEARS catalog of gaming goodness with sections devoted to each product. One of my favorite contents included in the SJG game boxes was the catalog. Some of our favorites included OGRE, G.E.V., Illuminati and One-Page Bulge. The price of the game -$3.95 - was enough to lure us quickly into snatching up more of the SJG pocket box games. We were thrilled to find a game and play experience that reminded us so much of Death Race 2000. Since character points are pointless for NPCs don't worry and use the 3e stats as written.Several of the products from Steve Jackson Games were played quite frequently by the members of our gaming group. TLDR: the point cost of a particular character will change modestly. Just use the 3e defenses as written and assume the character in question has the appropriate enhanced/incompetent defense advantage/disadvantage to make the math work out. Or not since there are now enhanced/incompetent defense advantages/disadvantages that can adjust defenses outside of the standard formula. So you will have to recalculate parry / block / and dodge. It went from being variable and dependent on what type of armor a character was wearing in 3e to a flat 3 for everyone in 4e. The only other stat that is different is Passive Defense. For NPCs written in 3e terms- who cares if their point costs are off? You may need to translate the name of some of their skills/advantages but they are pretty much usable as is. This mainly effects the point costs of characters. There is a document that details the translation. Some of the advantages/disadvantages/skills have been renamed, re-scoped and re-priced. TL DR: 4th core with 3rd supplements is nearly effortless.

GURPS 3RD EDITION DAI BLACKTHORN HOW TO
(and most of that clean up is IN the core books - the genre books are either non-mechanical, or compose their mechanical bits from the foundational stuff found in the core book.ĮDIT: I skipped the combat differences - Snap Shot is different, and passive defense is different, so if you're dealing with those stats somethings will be different, but it's not hard to find out how to convert those on the fly. The main differences are in character creation (IQ & DX cost more, there are no more 1/2 point skills), and that ST and HT swap out certain meanings (no more muscleman wizards).Ĥth does a lot more to "clean" up a lot of the genre-specific things from 3rd to make them more generic, but were you to run with the 3rd edition version you'd be just fine. While the calculations for a set of powers/etc might differ a bit, resulting in different costs, those differences are hardly game breaking. Generally speaking, the differences between 3rd and 4th are minimal.
